Acronyms that folks in scouting use on a very regular basis:

SPL
|
Senior Patrol Leader Oversees the troop meeting and campouts.

ASPL

Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Assists or fills in for the SPL. There are usually two.

PL
|
Patrol Leader Runs his patrol, attends meetings regularly, and attends PLC meetings.

APL
|
Assistant Patrol Leader Assists or fills in for the PL

PLC
|
Patrol Leader Conference Meets once a month to plan weekly meetings, address the needs of the different patrols, and arrange callouts. Run by the SPL..

Scoutmaster Oversees the running of the troop..

Assistant Scoutmaster Assists the SM in various ways – always looking for more adults who would like to help boys achieve rank, go on campouts, help troop
run smoothly.

Scoutmaster in Charge Adult in charge of a certain event like a campout.

COH
|
Court of Honor Meeting honoring achievements of scouts held four times a year. Usually
attended by family members, and has food. You are welcome to bring your camera to record these special moments for your son.

OA
|
Order of the Arrow An organization within scouting that members are voted into by their fellow scouts. In order to be eligible, you must meet special
requirements like number of days camping, be active in scouts, and show leadership skills. .
